OWODE DISTRICT HAILS @KWARAAPC LEADERSHIP OVER @ATUNWA_1’S REP BID Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owode District of Asa Local Government Area of Kwara rose from a meeting at district headquarters of the party yesterday with the resolve to key into the House of Representatives bid of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Razak ATUNWA, for Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency in the 2015 general elections. They said the decision of the state APC leadership to give the nod to the ambition of ATUNWA was a right step in the right direction. He was yesterday issued with clearance certificate to contest for the seat by the screening committee chaired by former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. A statement made available to The Herald in Ilorin and signed by the APC Chairman and Secretary, Owode District, Alhaji Ibrahim Alowonle Apo and Alhaji Mustapha AbdulGaneey respectively, said members of the party were not surprised at the endorsement of the Speaker going by his political antecedents in the state. The statement opined that ATUNWA’s representation at the Federal level would bring more goodies to the people of the constituency, adding “his track record of achievements at the State level is there for everyone to see”. They also thanked the Senator representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, DR ABUBAKAR BUKOLA SARAKI, for giving a level playing ground for all aspirants, which culminated in ATUNWA joining the race. Members of the party in Owode district also applauded the state party leadership for approving GOVERNOR ABDULFATAH AHMED of the state as sole candidate of the party for the governorship primary, saying it would avoid bickering and acrimony that usually trailed contest in any elections. While commending the APC Chairman in the State, Hon Ishola Balogun Fulani, for administering the affairs of the party impressively, the statement assured that the party would sweep all elective offices in the forthcoming general elections in the State.
