OWOSSO – Where Did The Last 5 Years Go? On April 23, 2009, FriendsandCommunity Owosso posted its first story, opening up in the community the first interactive in real time news and information platform. FriendsandCommunity Owosso ushered in an era where you, the reader could interact in real time with others on what is transpiring in your community. It presented a new way for people to share what is happening in their lives with the community around them, being able to love, laugh and cry with others, to be able to better understand the news and events that are impacting them and their familys lives. Five years ago it may have been a novel idea to use social networking sites to share news but now it is how most news is disseminated. Today FriendsandCommunity Owosso has 5,000 friends and followed by over 3,000 people. Its sister page that opened in Dec. 2009, Friends and Community News and Views now reaches close to 7,000 people. We thank you all for not only reading the page but for interacting and making your view known. We also thank all who post photos and story’s on events that they witness. Remember this is your platform to use. Not all people are happy with news being more transparent and posted in real time. Some people have even been very critical of us allowing the average citizen to share their feelings on local issues believing that people who do not agree with them are negative. With the advent of news being shared in real time there is less hiding and burying under the rug events and decisions made by government officials. Today people have many choices on line where to get their news. The Argus-Press also has a fb page today that reaches thousands of people and if you aren’t friends with them… you should be. The Argus does a wonderful job. The Independent News Group also posts on line. We live in a Wonderful community that has so much going for it. It is a great place to live, work, play, raise a family and retire in. We are Blessed with a great school system, police and fire department, and the list goes on and on. With five years behind us we are now looking to the future and know that to stay relevant and to stay on the left side of the curve that we can never relax and not be willing to change to meet the needs and desires of you who we serve. Please Help Us Grow & Be As Relevant As We Can Be. We are always open to hearing your thoughts and ideas. As you know we let people who vehemently disagree with us state their opinions. We don’t want to damper free thinking or sharing of thoughts and feelings. We would ask you all, for sharing in a balanced manner. In that if a person finds fault in something that maybe if not at that time of sharing but at another time they can find something to praise someone for.
