OWWA scholarships now open for OFW dependents ABS-CBNnews Posted at 06/21/2014 4:20 PM | Updated as of 06/21/2014 4:20 PM MANILA – Scholarship programs are now available to senior high school students who are dependents of overseas Filipino workers. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is now accepting applications for the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and the Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) for School Year 2015-2016. Those interested to apply should submit the documentary requirements to OWWA regional offices on or before July 31, 2014. Member-OFWs with dependents based in Jeddah and Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Manama, Bahrain may submit applications to OWWA’s overseas posts in the Middle East. The qualifying examination, to be administered by the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute nationwide, will be conducted on September 21, 2014. Schedule of examination in Jeddah and Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Manama in Bahrain, will be announced later. The EDSP and CMWSP are competitive scholarship programs that grant P60,000 financial assistance per school year to qualified dependents of member-OFWs. In 2014, 40 scholars graduated with Latin honors. Application forms can be downloaded from the OWWA website owwa.gov.ph.
