OaklandAwake supports this action. Gentrification effects businesses, too. It is important that ethical, long term P.O.C-owned businesses thrive, so that Oakland residents have affordable purchasing choices, despite the new economy. A $5 Banh Mi, not a $15 equivalent. :-) This particular boycott is a Black Ferguson response, so other communities arent represented. Black consumers spend a trillion dollars a years, so the boycott could be a good way to send a message. This page supports allies in other communities-of-color, and would like to feature reports of ethical businesses, facing financial hardship, or eviction. Please share any that you know of.
