Obama Doesn’t Understand Africa. If America would do for Africans what they did for Jews, Africans would easily overcome their problems by themselves. Everywhere I’ve traveled in the world, I met and talked with a lot of people, and unmistakably a lot of them hate Jews. Some have never met a Jew. Some have heard about Jews from friends, medias or the Internet. But they all have something in common, they hate Jews just because they are Jews. Nazi exterminated millions of Jews not because they did something bad to Germans, but simply because they were Jews. Africans or Black people find themselves in the same situation all over the world. Everywhere I go (outside of Africa) the number of people who hate Black people exponentially exceeds the number of people who feel compassionate about Black People. All around the world, people hate black people just because they are black. Millions of black people have been killed and deported by European salve traders simply because they were black. Today, Jews are safer. You can’t hurt a Jew without Israel coming after you immediately. You can’t threat Israel without the United States immediately coming after you. America guarantee the safety of Jews and Israel. No human being could become a productive member of a community when his identity is constantly under threat. When anyone can bully him or her without any risk or a fear of retaliation. There is no shame to be a weak person, or a weak nation at a point in history. But being helpless and hopeless about getting any help from a compassionate stronger neighbor is what break people. And that’s what is breaking African people soul and Nations. What Africans need more than anything else is a homeland like Jews, and an unconditional protection from a strong Nation, a protection like the one America has offered Jews after the second world war. That was my dream when Barack Obama was elected in 2008. I was in Buffalo, NY at the time: November 4th, 2008. On that day, I left work around 7pm and headed to a local shop to buy 2 bottles of Champagne, and then went to a community center near grant street on the westside of Buffalo NY where a hopeful African community gathered to witness what was considered the biggest event in Black people history since the first man left Africa. It was 5:30 am in Buffalo NY when Obama got officially elected. I opened my bottles of champagne and served few people, but quickly proceeded to spray everyone in sight with champagne bubble in an uncontrollable joy. My exuberance caught the attention of few friends, and was featured on few facebook, the next day. Today, I’d say Obama has been a missed opportunity for Africa. He is emotionally distant from the continent, and spent most of his time lecturing Africans. Friends don’t lecture Friends in public. He never lectures or gives lessons to Israel in public. He never Lectures United Kingdom in his public speech. Regardless of his African background he doesn’t seem to be emotionally connected to the continent, but behaves like the old colonial Europeans and IMF folks who come to Africa condescending Africans with top down speech and kids’ lecturing tone. Africa doesn’t need more lecturing. Africa doesn’t need gifts. Africa needs protection: a powerful nation that guarantee the safety of its leaders committed to serve the interest of their people. Once Africans will feel secure, they will overcome any difficulty by themselves. We could solve our energy problem ourselves. Even the evil white apartheid regime in South Africa were supported and protected by White Nations, which provided it with nuclear bombs and ballistic missiles to feel secure from Africans which might try to chase them from the country. The apartheid regime was protected not because it was doing something good, but simply because it was a white people regime. (Here, I might say that Obama main intellectual flaw is to think that racism doesn’t exist or is not an important topic to address). When East European countries got out of the soviet union, George W. Bush went to offer them full NATO protection from Russians. They now feel more secure. Europeans always protect and support unconditionally all countries and places where their descendants settled, not in exchange of mining contracts and commercials deal, but simply because they are still considered as part of their blood. Chinese offer protection and support to Chinese where ever the settled. You can’t touch a Chinese without China coming after you. Chinese offer unconditional support to friendly nations to avoid them being harassed by other nations. Is there any single African country that has the unconditional protection of a major world power? We often accuse African leaders of corruption and serving western nations interests instead, but there is a clear explanation for that behavior. They behave so because they want/need protection. They want a powerful nation to back them in case of aggression or trouble. Contrary to a friendly nation protection, the western protection is often offered in exchange of these leaders renouncing to serve their own people or nations’ interests. African leaders would work in the interest of their people if they were not constantly stalked and bullied by colonial countries. African Americans should act for Africa like the American Jews act for Israel. What Africa needs from the United States of America is to stand behind Africa authentic leaders with a clear message “Don’t mess up with Africa. That’s what Africans needs the most, but Obama doesn’t understand that, but offer as usual soft candies.
