Obama considers appointing an Ebola czar to manage Americas response to epidemic President Barack Obama said Thursday that it may be necessary for him to appoint a czar to oversee his administrations response to Ebola and signaled that he is open to a travel ban but doubts it would do more to protect Americans. It may be appropriate for me to appoint an additional person, Obama told reporters in the Oval Office following a two-hour meeting with top advisers. That person, he said, would make sure were crossing all the ts and dotting all the is in the long run. The president said he does not have a philosophical objection to a travel ban but does not see it as the best way to fight Ebola. A travel ban is less effective than the measures we are currently implementing, he said. Based on expert advice thus far, Obama said he has determined that a flat-out travel ban is not the way to go.
