Obama...you have been beaten. I know it....you know it...and the rest of America knows it. You are just serving out the rest of your term at this point. I can see beaten in your face, in your eyes, and hear it in your voice. I expect nothing good to come out of your White House for the remainder of your final term. But, for a long time, you fought one hell of a good fight. I mean a half-breed, coming from a broken home, saddled with a muslim name, and you still beat all the Republicans and all the Democrats and won the Presidency....even won reelection to a second term. But winning an election is one thing...being able to pass laws and fix huge, complex problems is quite a different matter. I remember Dick Cheney saying the thing he considered to be the biggest accomplishment of the Bush Presidency was preventing another 9-11. You have been our President for 6 years, and so far...we have not experienced another 9-11. Thats quite an accomplishment in my book. I remember President Bush saying one of his biggest disappointments was not being able to capture or kill Osama Bin Laden. Obama was the Commander in Chief of our military forces when the Seals were given permission to take Bin Laden out. That was one accomplishment all Americans celebrated. I remember when almost anyone who wanted a new home could go and borrow 100,000 dollars and buy a home....pay a little extra, and the lender would not even verify your income or ability to repay the loan. We were living in a surreal world. I also remember the real estate bubble, the real estate bust, and the huge financial crisis that almost ruined this country. It was in this debris field that Obamas first administration landed. Things seem to be a little better now...at least we are not in an economic free-fall. I remember the body count of American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Every week or two....we were honoring Georgians who were sacrificed in a no-win, ill-adised war on the other side of the world. I breath easier now, knowing that not so many Americans are dying every week for nothing. But....there are many Americans who....I think.....really hate you....hate! Some of them think you are of the muslim faith....some of them think you are not a citizen of the United States. Every day there are photos posted all over the internet that have been photo-shopped.....altered to cast you in the most negative light possible. You are hated for reasons which have absolutely no basis in fact. This is a scary problem, because you have people spreading those lies, and people believing those lies, and the result is a segment of the population that hate the leader of our Nation for all the wrong reasons. Then there are lots of good Americans who disagree strongly with your policies. I have no problem with these people as long as they honestly debate the issues.....let the best man win. I do have a problem with anyone if they slip over into the category of intentionally lying in order to mislead the public on criitical issues. In fact...I think you have screwed up, and your screw-ups are happening more and more often these days. But tell me....who in the hell is helping you fix the problems of this country. Being a good President for the majority of the people of this Country is very hard...next to impossible, even with the help of every Congressman, and every American. I think you have tried to work with the lawmakers who you disagree with. You are a smart man.....and you knew that you would be a do-nothing President if you didnt form a bipartisan coalition to back the changes you anted. But, despite your efforts, that coalition didnt form. The opposition must share at least half the blame for that failure But the end result is that the USA has had 6 years of bitter fighting, that the politicians and people are more divided than ever. You have been an ineffective President on many critical issues. Yes....you are a beaten man...you lost, thats very clear. But... who won?
