Obba Babatunde sent me this thought provoking, insightful commentary on the decision in Ferguson.. Wanted to share. Today, in the aftermath of yesterdays decision, black people around the country feel a deep sense of loss and despair. Coupled with the individual challenges of our individual lives, we are then again unified by the fact that our lives have little value as it pertains to the system in this country....and they pose questions like Why do they do this to their own community? If you feel that your life has no value, how can you value the property of the area you live in or any other area for that matter. The discussion of what should we do is a ridiculous one because this issue has been going on since we got here to the shores. Theres not one Black man in America that can tell you that they have never, over a certain age, not been specifically racially profiled and treated like a bonafide criminal. Sad sad day.
