Obedience to the Word is not legalism. Legalism is believing that our morality can save us. Love and peace do not live in that system, only fear, frustration, and pride. We are saved by Grace through Faith that no one may boast. Obedience is our way of showing God that we trust Him. That we not only believe theoretically, but we are willing to actually follow the one we say we are putting our hope in. Our obedience will never be perfect, that is why Christ came. We will make mistakes, we will fall. But He is faithful to forgive. Always. His love is ridiculous, its extravagant, its pure, its stable, and its consistent. Obedience in Christ is not a burden of obligation. Its a token of trust in the most beautiful relationship imaginable.
