Obey the rulers who have authority over you. Only God can give authority to anyone, and he puts these rulers in their places of power. (Romans 13:1 - Contemporary English Version) Now if I can accept this verse as Gods word, then I have a Christian responsibility to respect our elected officials. Therefore, even though I may disagree with them, I should never try to undercut them by passing on falsehoods and exaggerations as the truth.
