Obi nkyer3 ak)daa Nyame is one of the interesting maxim of the Akan language. It basically means that; the child doesnt need to be shown who the Supreme Being is. It may interest you to know that a reference to the above maxim was actually made by Shykh Abdullah Hakim Quick (a Canadian Muslim Scholar/Historian) in a lecture he gave in 1998, The Truth About Holidays, at the University of Miami, when he was talking about the innate nature of monotheism. Again, in a 2014 Hollywood movie, Sleepy Hollow (my intention is not to advertise the movie, but just to make a reference), there was a point they wanted to expel a demon and they actually used an ancient enchantment, which was written in Twi, to expel that demon. Trust me, they actually chanted it in Twi. My point? People may be historically known for something weird (in this case, the demon/witchcraft stuff), but that doesnt mean they dont have a good or pleasing cultural traits (in this case, their belief in the Supreme Being). #NothingPersonal #JustThinking
