Part 1 Going to Liberia for peacekeeping was exciting for us not because it wasnt dangerous, but we were going for a very special assignment. Its always a different environment from what we are used to here in Nigeria. We were well taken care of, our feeding, salaries and allowances was intact. Thats why we take our work serious, we were always ready to go extra miles to get a job done. Have you forgotten that we are rated the best foot soldiers in the world? Our intelligence gathering mechanism is first-rate and that is why we are never caught napping even when enemies attack. Our arms and ammunition, including communication gadgets are usually state-of-the-art. Well...In case you are wondering, my name is Sergeant Mason Chima. Im a part of the Nigeria Army Team that is searching for the missing Chibok school girls that were kidnapped more than a month ago. Im in a little military camp set up, near the Sambisa forest. Its about 7:30pm, and I am just lying down, eyes wide open with so many things running through my mind, I think hunger is also part of what am facing right now. I am not writing to you now as an hungry man but as a dying man with little hope. Now, for those of you who dont know, the Sambisa forest is not a plot of land you can just cover in a few hours. Its a very vast area of land, thats why even the US, Britain had to bring drones and surveillance aircrafts to fly over the area. So, I think that should give an idea of what I am saying. So, keep that in mind before you start accussing and attacking us unnecessarily from the plush comfort of your homes. At the same time, we are not only fighting the boko-haram sect but also fighting the political class and even nigerians condemning me; us at a time that we all ought to be standing together as one.
