Obituary Luthan E. “Jack” Poppell “No more tears in heaven”, Luthan E. “Jack” Poppell passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 14, 2013. The service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Gretna Baptist Church with burial at Sunnydale Cemetery in Gretna. Family will receive friends following the service at the church. Jack was born October 21, 1926 to Delia and Bennett Poppell, he was the owner of Jack Poppell’s Beauty Salon for many years. As a member of Gretna Baptist Church, he served as deacon, choir member and dessertmaker. He will be missed by all the people who counted him as a friend to share a laugh or gossip. He has finally joined his wife, Elizabeth Anne, in a place where there is no more pain. As well as his brothers; J. B. and Cary Poppell and a sister: Ruth Hance. He is survived by a son, Timmy Poppell of Marianna, a daughter; Sarah Susan (Wayne) Hardy of Panama City Beach, a brother; Douglas Poppell of Quincy, and a sister-in-law; Margaret Poppell of Pensacola, granddaddy Jack is also survived by three grandchildren; Thomas (Rachel) Thursby, Christopher (Erin) Ryals, and Brittany Poppell, and his extra blessings are great grandchildren; Camille, Ryder and another one on the way, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Freddie Turner, Buddy and Christine Gunn and Sandra Johnson for your help and support over the years. We would also like to thank the angels who were with him on Sunday morning. Memorial contributions may be made to Florida Baptist Children’s Home, 8415 Buck Lake Road, Tallahassee, FL 32311.
