Obituary for Tony Ward Tony Allen Ward, 49, Kingsport, died late Saturday night due to an apparent heart attack. Tony was born in Kingsport and attended Ketron High School and was a Sullivan North graduate. He was self-employed as owner/operator of Tony Ward Racing. Tony was a Harley-Davidson technician and restored vintage cars. He was an active member of NASCAR weekly racing series for many years at Kingsport Speedway. Tony was preceded in death by his father, James Clyde Ward; his mother-in-law, Jean Hilton; and his special friend, Mike “Dirty” Wagner. Tony is survived by his wife, Kellye Hilton Ward; his mother, Betty Yates of Kingsport; brother, David Ward; brother, Travis Ward and wife, Kim of Kingsport; nephews, Taylor McGlothlin, Dylan Phillips, Blake Ward, and Grant Ward; and several aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Hamlett-Dobson Chapel with Pastor Greg DePriest officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Depew’s Chapel with Pastor Tony Bleckley officiating. Pallbearers will be Charlie Hawkins, Scott Williams, Joe Taylor, Sam Manis, Allen Qualls, Taylor McGlothlin, Dylan Phillips, Blake Ward, and Grant Ward. Honorary Pallbearers are the Tennessee Peacemakers. Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be given to the family.
