Objectively speaking... Can you imagine any music award scheme in Ghana without Shatta Wale reigning Artiste of the year... African Artiste of the year(NEAs) and the Best New Entertainer (IRAWMA) in the world of reggae and dancehall? I cant, someone might say o because you manage him... you are being bias. Please lets be objective, open minded and critically asses the current music scene... No disrespect to any artiste in Ghana and they know i love all of them... Shatta and a few have broken the jinx of the awards system in Ghana. Its said that after an artiste wins the ultimate title at the awards, their career tend to dwindle but Shatta has done the opposite. This year alone Shatta has over 5 hit songs on the Ghanaian scene... namely PartyAllNight KorleGonno WineUrWaist YouCantTouchMe DancehallCommando TalkTalk and a lot more... and has gone further to be noticed internationally. Please again lets be objective... How do you define a hit song? Not to say no other artiste in Ghana doesnt not have a hit... There are a lot more artistes with hits under the year of review... So i am wondering if a scheme designed to award musicians in Ghana can overlook these great works come next year... A scheme that has clearly stated, it doesnt need the permission of the artistes to pick their work (they are on record saying it, and theres proof). Will they overlook Shattas works considering the current state of affairs? Maybe the scheme is going to come up with new rules... where you need to submit officially before you get nominated. If not, are they paying for the content to be used for the awards? Will they receive works that truly reflect the state of popular music under the year in review? Or is it the end of the award scheme? Imagine Sarkodie VVIP B.M.F - Bardmanfamily DBlack Castro DDestroyer Bisa Kdei 4x4 Jupitar SAMINI Stonebwoy Burniton Denning Edem Agbeviadey MzVee Mosomfo Guru Obrafour EL M.anifest Ak Songstress Trig Matic R2Bees and a lot more countless hit makers in Ghana were to received monies before their content be used for the awards... It will be disastrous for the scheme... The GH Artiste is worth more and until they know their worth, the industry will never be fixed.
