Objectivity does not mean giving equal weight to different points - TopicsExpress

Objectivity does not mean giving equal weight to different points of view. Thats neutrality, not objectivity. For the most part we teach neutrality in journalism school, not objectivity. Objectivity means looking at facts, and facts means representations of reality that are based on EVIDENCE. Theres simply no reason to give an opinion based on prejudice or hatred and rooted in stereotype the same weight as an opinion based in FACT. To do so does not make you objective. It makes you dangerous to the common good.
