Observation: I was just watching a show where a mother was hooked on PCP (Angel Dust) and as a result, the state took away her 5 year daughter. They placed her in the custody of the womans brother & wife. Three years later, they officially adopted the child. 15 years later, the mother is still using PCP and shes crying and is genuinely angry about how her daughter doesnt treat her like a mother and said, Im her mother, I can be a good mother, I have the stretch marks to prove that Im her mother! All I can say is Wow! Four years of sobriety and knowing everything I now know & Im still totally blown away at how addiction allows us to live in our own little world and how easily we can convince ourselves to see only what we want to see. Im even more blown away that not all that long ago, I used to live in that very world. Denial is just as powerful & dangerous as addiction itself..... thats for sure!
