Observation by one Landlord in court yesterday - What really - TopicsExpress

Observation by one Landlord in court yesterday - What really caught my attention at Housing Court yesterday was the blatant display of unfairness towards Landlords. Before court even started, the Magistrate called everybodys attention to the group of lawyers at the side of the room. They were free legal aid for tenants who qualified. Then he pointed to the back of the room where the representatives from the Tenancy Preservation Program were stationed to offer financial assistance to tenants at risk of being evicted. So....if a tenant shows up with no lawyer he can just go to the side of the room and get a free one (paid for by the taxpayers). If he still loses and is getting evicted- he will walk over about 10 feet to get financial assistance to help him preserve his tenancy. All this free tenant help is not really free to the rest of us. These tenants are not in housing court because they are innocent victims of anything that the state needs to protect them from... Response by a Rental Owner on LandlordingAdvice - Corruption in Govt? Say it aint so! There is nothing new under the Sun... - Book of Ecclesiastes Step up, take action, get your fellow landlords organized and put and end to these shenanigans. If theres one thing that can counter a tenant advocacy group its 100 POd landlords showing up in housing court en mass. Were smarter, faster, more diligent, and whats more its our livelihoods at stake. Dont tell me we cant stand up to this slacker entitlement mentality. No one is going to claim it is EASY. The American Revolution wasnt easy either, but the participants did what was necessary and made some sacrifices to win political and economic liberty for themselves and those who came after. If they could throw out a king in command of the worlds then most powerful army and empire, why can we not take care of some pesky unjust judges and gooberish deadbeats? Cmon, Guys and Gals, put on your big boy and girl pants and remember we just celebrated the 4th of July..
