Observation from the conference with Facebook Corporate yesterday... A university was explaining the trouble that reach drops were causing for their page to be able to spread actual important information to the followers - such as campus closed news. The FB rep reminded the university that for information dissemination, especially to Aumni and other sub-sections of their community, Facebook groups are what they should be looking at. I think that this really emphasizes what Im seeing happen with Pages and Groups and reaffirms my theory that many organizations are vastly under-utilizing Facebook groups - much to Facebooks dismay. Ive talked a lot about what Ive learned from using groups - and where you can find a good course on the topic - and you can certainly expect that to continue. There is simply a lot more to gain by adapting your methods to groups rather than pages for certain uses. Pages definitely have a place in the advertising channel but the recent changes are forcing people to re-think and consider whether they should have even been using a page in the first place. ~ Kim~ #Facebook #FacebookMarketing #SocialMedia #AskKim
