A butterfly, in nature, must be allowed to force and squeeze its way through the coccoon, in a huge struggle to be free. As much as it would be tempting to help the butterfly by cutting it free, this would actually stop the blood etc from being worked through the wings, and the butterfly would just fall to the ground without being able to fly. An intense process, but one we must go through. Although, just as a snake shedding its skin, it can be helpful to have a Crystal Ally such as this Obsidian "spear" head, to help cut away the old self that is being shed, once the process has been completed, rather then carry around a lot of old, and heavy energy. I often recommend this to be used in meditation, holding the obsidian spear head in your head, feeling the sharp edge, and visualising using it to cut away any energetic cords you feel attached to you.
