Obstetrics/midwifery is like any other profession (car repair, dentist, hairdresser): there are people who are great and people who are not so great. Plus, the worse case scenario stories really get more press and attention than the run of the mill my OB/MW were awesome stories. But try not to let the negativity poison your thoughts about the whole profession. I have met such speculator doctors, midwives, and nurses during this work. I know they are out there. They are not in every community, but they are out there.
