Obviously, antique and vintage items are a great way of recycling; many of todays items are made from plastics that damage the environment when being manufactured, during their useful life and they continue that damage long after theyve been discarded; arent the little plastic gewgaws that are found in the majority of crackers a total waste of resources? Theyre usually collected up and put straight into the bin - as they are small pieces, they are potentially very damaging to wildlife and the environment. When Im selecting a gift for a birthday or other occasion, I try to find something that will be immediately appreciated but that will last a long time and continue to give pleasure - maybe for a lifetime. This original Art Deco lamp is a nice example of something that a person would be happy to grow up and live with.
