Obviously this case is disturbing on every level. 20 years ago I worked for that same DCF office. I remember the tragedy of having to remove a child from their parent. It was crushing no matter what the situation was. But I always remember the effort to find a relative that was fit to step in as a foster parent if one was available. I remember pushing home studies through in a matter of hours so the kids would be with a relative during the DCF battle. I NEVER had a case that didnt have a reunification plan. It wasnt always achieved but it was always set up. Unbelievable how different things are with this case. I hope it ends soon and in a happy way!
