Obviously this is not common (enough) knowledge, so let me bring everyones attention to the following Public Announcement: Common Courtesy Tip #1: If a wedding invitation is not addressed to you on the envelope, you are not invited. If the envelope says [So-and-so] and guest, So-and-so may invite you as a guest, in which case you can go to the wedding. But if you were not invited, then do not go, do not invite yourself, do not collect $200. Youre only putting the bride in the awkward and stressful situation of having to either call you out on being uncouth (which makes her feel like a jerk) or pay an extra sum of money for someone whom she hardly knows and/or is unable to afford due to finances. (If you were not any of these things, you would have been invited.) Furthermore, if you actually have the gall to show up, there may not be a place for you to sit or food for you to eat, all of which costs a lot of money that you are not paying. You will also get the stink eye from the bride--NOT fun. Dont be that person. /end-rant
