Ocracoke Blackbeard Pirate Jamboree! What an incredible weekend! (For Some of Us Nearly an Entire Week.) My thanks to all who contributed and participated in the Ocracoke event. Even though at times the weather tried to dampen our enthusiasm with the Ocracoke Blackbeard Pirate Jamboree I feel it was an overwhelming success. Blackbeards Crew proved once again that no hurdle including foul weather cannot be overcome. The Pirates and militia were well received by the good townsfolk of Ocracoke. Once again the Islanders made all feel welcome an extended the hand of true Southern hospitality in the finest tradition. Its an honor and privilege for us to meet so many on the island and develop what I feel will be lifelong friendships with many of the Ocracoke residence and business owners. It is also a rare privilege to have an opportunity to bring Ocracokes piratical history alive once again. Now time for all to unpack, dry out canvas and start the planning for next years Ocracoke Blackbeard Pirate Jamboree. And for this old pirate time to offload the two big guns, disassemble said guns and clean out all of the sand that I just noticed found its way into the axle grease in the Cannon wheels during the drive home caused by the high winds over the sand dunes.
