Oct. 9, 2013 Dear Buddies, Mrs. Park has been teaching Korean fan dance to elementary school girls, grade 4-5, for Multicultural Day. There are two Korean students and four Kenyan students and the rest are Americans, so they are multicultural. They had practiced how to fold and unfold their fans and how to take steps together. Today the girls are going to put on traditional Korean dresses called hanbok. Elizabeth is in grade 6 and today she got permission from Mrs. Park to help the little girls. Mrs. Park should have said that Elizabeth is a captain today and listened to her. Two years ago she performed the Korean fan dance well and she knows how to wear the dress. At Park’s house she helped the little girls to choose suitable ones. They were very excited and noisy. One girl grumbled, “This one does not fit to me.” She has some fat. Elizabeth says, “Hey, girls! Keep quiet and listen to me!” The other girls complained, “Why should we listen to you?” Before Elisabeth was embarrassed and thought of what she was going to say in a second, Gabriel, the tallest 5th grade girl, who loves Korean fan dance and has never grumbled said clearly, “You have to listen to her. She is older than us.” Mr. Park whispered, “Wow!” Do you know typical TCKs or MKs? Gabriel is American, but she thinks and behaves like African.
