October 11, 2013 6:31 pm (0) Comments CHAMPAIGN — The 34th annual Chris Cringle Crafts Sale will be held at the University of Illinois State Farm Center from 3-9 p.m. Nov. 1; and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 2. Tickets are on sale at 9 a.m. Monday. The Chris Cringle Craft Sale is one of the Midwest’s largest craft shows, covering all three levels of the Assembly Hall. The show features more than 150 booths displaying a wide variety of handcrafted items by local and area artists. This year’s raffle is for a hand designed holiday quilt made by crafters. The hosts of the annual event are the Illinois Heartland Decorative Artists, a local chapter of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters. This group meets for programs, demonstrations, seminars, and a weekend retreat to promote this form of artwork. Displays are set up in several towns during the month of October for public information. Among their many projects is an Art Student Scholarship, sponsoring families through the Department of Children and Family Services, donations to the Central Illinois 4-H Camping Association and Decorative Arts Collections, making Memory Boxes for Hospitals, and supplying participant ribbons for the area county fair. ihda.us for more information. Illinois Heartland Decorative Artists will offer a free coat check and package check while visiting the Chris Cringle Crafts Sale. State Farm Center will provide a rest area and refreshment stand with sandwiches and drinks. Admission is $5 and includes parking and five entries for door prizes. Children under the age of six are free. Strollers and carts are welcome. Tickets are available at the Illinois Ticket Office (open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.)
