October 16, 2014 Mr. Paul August Mrs. Terri August c/o 108 Saint Jean Street Carencro, LA 70520 CARENCRO MIDDLE SCHOOL 4301 North University Carencro, LA 70520 ATTN: Dr. Sturgeon Banyard – Principal Dear Dr. Banyard: Please allow this correspondence to serve as written confirmation regarding an incident at Carencro Middle School. On October 14, 2014 our son Tidus Armstead was in Ms. Molitor’s class, when Ke Andre Helaire proceeded to slap Tidus in the face. Tidus did not defend himself against this student. Artrail Marks filmed this incident and it was placed on Instagram (Social Media) and this went viral. While this incident was taking place, the teacher Ms. Nicole Molitor sit by on her cell phone and did nothing. We feel this is a form of bullying, and the school system should have policies/procedures in place to handle this sort of abuse. This incident should be handled before something major happens, such as retaliating, etc. Eventually, there could be an altercation between said students. Bullying carries plenty negativities i,e, Emotional Stress, Mood Swings, Depression, Lack of Sleep, and much more even Suicide. On October 16, 2014 we met with Dr. Banyard and Ms. Molitor regarding this bullying incident. Dr. Banyard called in the above two students (who are football players, Artrail Marks being the QUARTERBACK), told them about the bullying film informed them to take off their jersey and told them if this would happen again they would be suspended for ten days. (By the time we entered the hall the above two students had put their jersey back on). We know it is Carencro Middle School Homecoming Week, and feel these students will be allowed to play in the homecoming game, this is not right, they should be punished. We feel there should not be a next time, they should be punished immediately for this abuse. The supposedly zero tolerance policy should be enforced. We would like to receive in writing how this matter was handled towards the students, teacher and everyone else involved.
