October 1st National Day of Action” NIGERIA AT 53: ARE WE ON COURSE OR ON CURSE? The above mentioned Association which is the Umbrella body for all Tertiary Institutions of Higher Learning and Mouth- piece for Entire Nigerian Students in South- West of Nigeria brings solidarity greetings to all Nigerian Students, Freedom Fighters, Rights Activists, Labour Activists, Pan-African Activists, Leftist Ideologues and all Staff Unionists i.e ASUU, ASUP, COEASU, NUT, NASU, etc that are here in Ibadan today, Tuesday, October 1st 2013 to honour NANS ZONE-D October 1st National Day of Action to strongly demand for total resolution of all crises in Education Sector in which the 3- Months Old ASUU strike is the major one and also to demand from Nigerian Government to come out with clear agenda and programmes to save public education. STATE OF THE NATION The Nigerian students strongly frown at the callous, impersonal and mechanistic attitude of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan towards the crises in Education Sector, majorly, the on-going ASUU Strike that is exactly 3-months Old today. We use this medium to call on President Jonathan to honour the agreement signed with Staff Unions i.e ASUU, ASUP, COEASU, NUT, etc, two weeks ultimatum is given to Federal Government of Nigeria to resolve the lingering issues with Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) or else Nigerian Students will short down all the remaining sectors in the country starting from Aviation, Oil, Power, Transportation, etc State by State and Nationally. No compromise for proper funding of Free, Compulsory and Quality Education at all levels-from Primary to tertiary level, it is our right. We frown at the high level of insecurity in the country particularly, the insurgency of Boko Haram sect, we condemn their actions in strong term, majorly, the recent killing of more than sixty (60) Students of College of Agriculture, Gujba, Yobe State and we call on Nigeria Governments to find lasting solution to this menace. STATE OF THE ZONE / EDUCATION Nigerian Students totally kick against sky- rocketed school fees imposed by tyrannical Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola on the Students of Lagos-State University, (LASU). This horrendous situation in Lagos-State University (LASU) has made many candidates offered admission unable to be enrolled and many Matriculated Students have been forced to drop out from the school due to the astronomical increment in the fees, LASU Students now paying a fee that ranges between #280,000 and #345,750. We demand for immediate reversal of outrageous fees in LASU and other schools like Ekiti State University (EKSU), Osun State University, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, and we enjoin Governor Olusegun Mimiko and Governor Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi not to try to increase the school fees of their state owned institutions. This medium is also used to call on Governor Abiola Ajimobi as the Visitor to Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, (EACOED), oyo to check the excesses of Stand-In-Provost of the College, Mr. G.O. Oyewobi where he has set to expel / suspend more than thirty (30) Students of the College because of the crisis caused by his Incompetent Administrative Technique and Autocratic mode of Leadership, we say no to Capitalist Exploitation and Blatant Oppression at EACOED and all our campuses across the country. Leaflets attached. ALUTA CONTINUA, VICTORIA ASCERTA!!! Paste: ALLI EGBESOLA Director of publicity and media Signed: Com.
