October 22, 2014 “Somebodys Praying ...” As I listened to the beautiful words of this song sung by Ricky Skaggs, it touched my heart as I realized the power of prayer. Let me share the words … “Somebodys praying … I can feel it. Somebodys praying for me. Mighty hands are guiding me to protect me from what I cant see … Somebodys praying for me.” Praying is something that I know I easily take for granted. The church email comes with a prayer request and I hurriedly pray a quick prayer. I meet a friend on the street and he shares with me the problems hes facing and I leave him with these words … “Ill pray for you.” But do I, do you? So often we are so busy that the words “Ill pray for you” carry little meaning. Prayer is a powerful force, one that I think many of us underestimate. Our prayers are a direct communication with God and He covets our prayers. Gods word tells us … “... do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication (a request or petition)... with thanksgiving, let your prayers be made known to God, And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 I believe that whenever we pray, even if its just one word … God hears us. I also believe that when we pray, when we seek Gods help, there is no prayer that is too trivial, nor too big that God doesnt welcome them. But lets not be confused. The power of prayer doesnt come from our efforts. Its not the words we say or how we say them. It isnt based on if we are standing or kneeling, or where we are. The power of your prayers and mine come from our Omnipotent God, for He is the one who hears them and answers them. God is the source of the power of our prayers. Lets make today a day of prayer. When you see someone struggling with something … say a prayer. When you hear the sound of an ambulance … say a prayer. When the television news tells of a problem somewhere, or with someone … lets lift them in prayer. “I call on You Lord, for You will answer me.” Psalm 17:6 “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17 Today lets make prayer a priority. Lets pray like weve never prayed before. Remember ...“Somebodys praying … I can feel it!” Lord, help each of us to realize that Your gift of prayer is powerful and awesome and something we should be constantly doing. Help us today to keep prayer on our lips as we journey through this new day You have prepared for us. You are our Anchor, You will never fail those who ray. Jw Enjoy this beautiful song … youtu.be/oI_h_IRfRe8
