October 22nd marked the second day of the YONEX French Open Superseries, and Team YONEX is making a strong start on the courts of the Stade Pierre de Coubertin. Men’s doubles was also host to a few surprises. Goh V Shem (ARCSABER 11)/Tan Wee Kiong (VOLTRIC Z-FORCE II) won in a tight match against No. 6 seeds and previous French Open champions, Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan. Despite letting one game go, the Malaysian pair managed to take the other two by the skin of their teeth for a 21-19, 9-21, 21-19 win. Elsewhere in the stadium, No. 1 seeds Mathias Boe (ARCSABER 11, SHBSC6iEX)/Carsten Mogensen (ARCSABER 11,SHB87LTD) won confidently over the pair of Kai Lu and former world champion Cai Yun. The first game was a rich back-and-forth exchange of points, with the score running over 21. The Danish pair however came back stronger in the second and final game, coming down on their opponents strong mid-way with six consecutive points. They move onto round 2 after this 25-23, 21-17 win.
