Often many hours and energy is put into them all done with a good heart! We have to be the change we want to see! To change everything, we need EVERYONE.!!! ************************************************************************************** THE FOLLOWING ARE EVENTS FOR VANCOUVER AND WEST COAST- VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT AND REQUEST! THE TIME IS NOW TO TELL KM NO! RE: People urgently needed to maintain a steady presence at Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area to Stop Kinder Morgan Residents of Burnaby along with many other concerned people have been working to stop Kinder Morgan from resuming clear cutting, drilling and other geotechnical work in the Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area on Burnaby Mountain. The giant US-based company plans to bore a hole through Burnaby Mountain to carry diluted tar sands to the expanded tanker berth at the Westridge Terminal. The plan would triple the amount of diluted tar sands oil stored on Burnaby Mountain near Forest Grove, triple the size of the Westridge Terminal and increase the number of Aframax tankers going through the busy Burrard Inlet and by the City of Vancouver, West Vancouver and North Vancouver to more than 400 per year. The City of Burnaby, along with cities like Vancouver, Abbotsford, Langley, and Victoria, has voiced opposition to Kinder Morgan. The majority of residents of Burnaby, and many other concerned people, are also opposed to Kinder Morgan’s expansion. The planned construction of the Trans Mountain pipeline through Burnaby Mountain is a threat to our immediate environment on the British Columbia Coast as well as our global ecosystem. This is a key environmental hotspot. It is a threat of global significance and deserves a more heightened attention from Vancouver and British Columbia environmental groups and the general public. For these reasons and more, a large number of people are urgently needed to maintain a steady presence at the Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area.
