October 29 Supplementary Training in the gym. These sessions are now a part of Rileys weekly regime. While physio and acupuncture address activating and stimulating muscles to engage and work again or work better by rebuilding neuropathways, gym training is about working with what is already repaired or repairing and working on getting muscles to fire properly, across the entire span of muscle groups involved in the exercises. Symmetry of left and right sides us also a big part of the objectives of these sessions. For example, Rileys erector muscle in his right back, next to his spine, is working overtime in the exercises where he stands from a squat or raises his leg against the wall and the glute muscle in his right butt cheek is barely engaged. This is true of sedentary workers as well who spend the day sitting. Repetition and hard, conscious thought is part of getting the glute to fire and begin rebuilding muscle memory.
