October 6th marks the third anniversary of my liver transplant at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. It is hard to believe so much time has passed! God has been gracious indeed. Rejoice with our family as we celebrate His continuing grace and mercy in our lives and pray that I might live my life in a manner worthy of the time I have been given. Since the surgery the Lord has provided an abundance beyond measure...Our ministry is flourishing like never before with many opportunities to teach, consult, and counsel Gods people. I will soon publish my forth book (2nd since my surgery). God also has been kind to our family as our daughter Sarah married Sean Smith in 2013, graduated college this past summer, and just last week delivered our first grandchild: Skylar Michele Smith. While I certainly do not compare myself to Job in the Old Testament, I cant help but relate to his restoration at the end of his affliction. After Jobs trial and suffering the Bible states: The LORD restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the LORD increased all that Job had twofold (Job 42:10). Like Job I feel my fortunes have been restored twofold. Praising God for His great mercy... “As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth (Job 19:25).
