October 8, 2013. First Round Conference play-offs. Calvary Cougars vs Cramerton. This was one of our best performances to date. The cougars jumped out to an early 2-0 lead within 15 minutes against a big, athletic Cramerton team. The Cramerton Crusaders had a blistering fast center forward who got loose on a long pass and put one in making it 2-1 at the half. We made an adjustment and the second half was all Cougar. Complete ball control and possesion and the passing looked like watching a game on TV. From the Cougar Goalie to the defense it was just a fun game to watch. The Crusaders were fast and fought the whole game but just couldnt overcome the possession game of Calvary. Ben Vernon (goalie), Jared Rose, Cody Bui, Evan Keeton, and Andrew Kinzer led the team to victory with just flat out solid soccer defense and hustle. At the end of the game it was Calvary 6-1 over Cramerton. Alex Lankford had 2 goals, Cody Kinzer had 1 goal, Cameron Ayers had 1 goal, and Caleb Salter had 2 goals and 3 assist. It was a team effort and a great game to watch. The Cougars will travel to Rockwell, NC this Friday to play an unknown team to pursue the Conference title at 4 pm. Conference Championship will be Saturday October 12 at 11 am.
