A second person, a county sheriff, is being a patient in a Texas hospital. He was in the apartment of the recent victim and came in contact with one of the relatives or the victim himself. Saturday, 6 major US airports will start screening African travelers. Only about 150 arrive in total each day counting all the airports. *CANCER TODAY(Summer,2014). Caregiving With Confidence, is about follow up care at home after cancer treatment. Michelle Johnston-Fleece, who lost her husband in 2004 is a patient advocate and director of state initiatives for the Cancer Support Communitys Cancer Policy Institute. She lists four strategies to help you prepare for responsibilities such as basic medical care, helping patients with hygiene and providing emotional and financial support. 1. Ask Questions Before Youre Home(after hospital treatment). Before the patient is discharged from the hospital, have a clear conversation with a knowledgeable member of the care team-whether a nurse,social worker or other health care professional-to learn what to expect. 2.Assess Your Support system.Consider your ability to provide the necessary care and identify who can help you. 3. Advocate for the Patient. You may be able to get financial help and support from national organizations such as the Patient Advocate Foundation and Cancer Care as well as from your local department of aging, nonprofit organizations and support groups. For patients with advanced disease, palliative and hospice care providers can also help relieve the caregiver by providing additional services. 4.Dont Forget to Care for Yourself. Check a database for respite care programs(archrespite.org/us-map) which provide short-term care for patients so caregivers can take a break. You dont want to get burnout and you must maintain your own health. Part 2 is next.
