October Calendar Notes There has been some concern in regards to parking lot safety. Please be sure to turn all vehicles off when you leave them, watch for children and please park only is designated spots. This enables a smooth pick up time for all. Thank you for your help in keeping our parking lot safe. October 1st – Volunteer training. If you wish to volunteer at any school event you must complete this training as well as complete the volunteer packet. October 2nd – Cookie Fund Raiser Begins – Proceeds go to Playground Renovation October 4th – The Pre-k children will visit the Fire Department Easy and 41. Mrs. Larkin’s and Mrs. Burlisons class will leave Small World promptly at 9:40 am. Each class will be able to have 2 approved** parent volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, you must sign up with the office. Volunteers will be taken on a first come basis. We do try to rotate volunteers so all parents have a chance to go on a trip. As for all field trips, please be sure to arrive on time. October 5th – Ruby Tuesday Fund Raiser – All procedures go for teacher scholarships to attend conferences October 7th – All School Chapel October 9th – The fire/EMS dept will have vehicles here for the children to see, walk through and to ask questions about. The fun starts at 10:00 a.m. please be sure to have your child here on time. October 11 & 12th - There will be no VPK classes on this day. Small World will be open for those children enrolled in full day care, if needed. However, there is an additional charge of $15 per day if your VPK child attends during his/her regular morning VPK hours on this day. October 17th – The Pre-k children will visit the Pumpkin Patch at the Methodist Church. Mrs. Larkin’s class will leave Small World promptly at 9:10 am; Mrs. Burlison’s class will leave promptly at 10:20 am. Each child will receive a small pumpkin to bring home. Each class will be able to have 2 approved** parent volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, you must sign up with the office. Volunteers will be taken on a first come basis. We do try to rotate volunteers so all parents have a chance to go on a trip. Please be sure to arrive on time so your child doesn’t miss this trip! October 17th - The 2’s and 3’s will enjoy a Pumpkin Patch here on our playground. Each child will receive a small pumpkin to take home. We could us a Parent Volunteer from Each class to read a pumpkin story to the children. October 23rd - Stranger Danger Class for Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department VPK only October 31st – Fall Harvest Festival- The children may dress up as their favorite Bible or storybook character, farmer, fruit or vegetable. Please do not send your child in violent or scary characters, Pokémon, masks, guns, swords, knives, etc. The children parade through the school halls, the church offices and around the playground. If your child does not attend on Friday, you may bring him/her for the parade and Fall Harvest Festival and then take him/her home afterwards. The festivities began promptly at 8:45 am and will end by 11:15 a.m. Parents may view the parade from the parking lot side of the fence around the playground. Children should arrive in costume with clothes on underneath. There will be a Fall Harvest Celebration with games, special activities and special classroom snacks. Be sure to watch for news about the Fall Harvest Festival! **All volunteers must attend Volunteer Training and have background checks prior to helping with any school event.
