October Salaries To Delay Over Lack Of Allocation –Gov Aliyu Niger State Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu has said that he may not be able to pay October salary as at when due because the last federation allocation meeting ended without states sharing any money. Aliyu, who made this comment yesterday in Minna at the opening of the 4th Congress and National Workshop on Cooperative Trade as a Driver of Job Creation and Employment Generation, said that only five of the 36 states in the country can survive the financial crisis that the nation will face as a result of the development. Asking the acting commissioner of Finance, Hassan Abdullahi, to give insight on what transpired at the FAAC meeting that took place in Enugu last week, Aliyu said the failure of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to distribute money to the states will affect the payment of the October salary in his state. Aliyu said that his promise to always pay salaries of civil servants on the 25th of every month is now being threatened and will be very a difficult pill to swallow for the state. He described the situation as very unfortunate while positing that that something urgent should be done to restore sanity to the situation in the FAAC system. He said governors and the private sector in the country must collaborate to pursue aggressive wealth creation strategy as a way of getting around the problem facing oil exploration and its sales, especially the vandalization of oil pipeline. The Commissiioner of Commerce and Co-operatives who oversees the finance ministry Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi who narrated what happened at the FAAC meeting of last week said “we were in Enugu for three days on the third day they called us into a room and told us to go back because there was no money to share.”. --LEADERSHIP NEWS
