Oddly, one of my vivid memories from the shore is using the optional outhouse behind our home. Man, it was icy cold on my bottom side! But, I loved the adventure of walking down the snow packed path, typically under-dressed, as I knew it was a short trip, and then sitting and looking out the partially open door at a pristine snowy setting while my arse froze. Yes, odd thing to relish but even though my parents installed indoor plumbing around 1959, I continued to trudge to the outdoor biffe on occasion, for years, usually with echos of disbelief and awe from my Mom and Dad....
