Odette School of Business Three-Year Limited-Term Lecturer Postion in Business Law The University of Windsor, Odette School of Business, invites applications for a Three-Year Limited-Term Lecturer position in the area of Business Law commencing July 1, 2014. This position is subject to budgetary approval. The University of Windsor is a medium-sized university with a solid reputation in teaching and research. The University of Windsor offers a friendly and supportive environment for both living and learning. It is Canada’s southernmost university and its border location provides unique cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities for faculty and students. The Odette School of Business offers four-year business programs leading to an Honours Bachelor of Commerce, and a two-year program leading to an Honours Bachelor of Commerce for University Graduates. It also offers a full-time MBA, an integrated MBA/LLB, a Masters of Management and a post-graduate certificate in accounting. The Business School is home to approximately 1400 full-time and 400 part-time undergraduate students, and 450 Masters-level students. The Business School has strong contacts with business and other academic institutions, with 60 full-time faculty. The preferred candidate for this appointment in Business Law, which is within the School’s Strategy and Entrepreneurship Area, will hold a Masters degree in Business and a Law degree, and will be qualified to practice law in the province of Ontario. The candidate should have substantial legal experience and significant understanding of key elements of legal arrangements in business such as company-to-company contracts, partner agreements and disputes, governance, etc. The successful candidate must have a substantial level of successful teaching experience of business law within a business school and experience in designing and delivering business law courses at the required and more advanced level is highly preferable. Besides teaching business law at the required and elective levels, the successful applicant will be expected to coordinate business law activities within the Odette School of Business including in the MBA/JD program, and to develop the business law curriculum at Odette to complement other activities at the School (some examples of possible arenas might be to support the School’s entrepreneurship initiatives or to advance initiatives involved around negotiation and change management).
