Odisha: BJD secures majority in 15 ULBs, 1 each for Congress and BJP - Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal today won 15 of the 20 urban local bodies whose election results were announced, scripting a morale-boosting performance ahead of next summer’s Assembly polls. The Opposition Congresshas managed to score majority only in Barpali NAC of Bargarh district. Continuing its dismal show this time too, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured majority only in Patnagarh NAC of Bolangir district. On this spectacular victory of his party, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, Especially I would like thank all the people who have voted for the Biju Janata Dal for such a huge victory in these urban elections and also like to thank the leaders and workers of the party for having worked so hard during these elections. This is a tremendous victory for our party in western Odisha. BJD captures Sundergarh municipality of Sundergarh district by winning 10 out of 19 seats. BJD captures Bhawanipatna municipality of Kalahandi district with majority of 12 out 20 seats. Bargarh municipality of Bargarh district in BJD hands. BJD-15, Congress-2, BJP-1 & Others-1. BJD bags Brajarajnagar municipality of Jharsuguda district by winning 14 out of 23 seats. 4 for Congress. BJD captures Jharsuguda municipality of Jharsuguda district by winning 14 out of 24 seats. Congress bags 10. BJD bags Padmapur NAC of Bargarh district by winning 10 out of 11 seats. 1 for BJP. BJD captures 9 out of 11 seats in Deogarh municipality of Deogarh district. Two for Congress. BJD gets 12 out of 16 seats in Kantabanji NAC of Bolangir district, Congress 4. BJD bags Kuchinda NAC of Sambalpur district with majority of 6 out of 11 seats. BJD captures Sonepur municipality of Subarnapur district with majority of 8 out of 15 seats. BJD gets majority 10 out of 19 seats in Bargarh municipality of Bargarh district. BJD bags Padmapur NAC of Bargarh district with majority of 7 out of 11 seats. BJD gets majority 10 out of 19 seats in Bargarh municipality of Bargarh district. BJD captures 11 seats out of total 12 in Binka NAC of Subarnapur district. Cong, BJP fail to bag single seat. BJD captures Tarabha NAC of Subarnapur district with a majority of 8 seats. Total seats 12 . BJD bags Khariar Road NAC of Nuapada district by winning 10 seats out of 19. BJD captures Binka NAC of Subarnapur district by winning 7 seats out of 12. BJD, Congress get 6 each out of 13 seats in Khariar NAC of Nuapada district. Congress bags Barpali NAC of Bargarh district by winning 8 out of 11 seats. 3 for BJD. BJP captures Patnagarh NAC of Bolangir district by winning 10 out of 15 seats. BJD gets 4, Congress 1. Majority to none in Kesinga NAC of Kalahandi district. Congress- 5, BJP- 4 & BJD-3. Earlier the Biju Janata Dal today won 41 of the 65 urban local bodies. The BJP had formed councils in seven places followed by Congress in six places while the ruling BJD was at the helm in five urban bodies in the previous ULB polls in 2008. source-orissadiary
