Of Mazes, Models and Marsupials - Day 5 of HCI-Hutchins School Exchange 2014 By Aaron Toh 3P3 Today was a short and sweet day in Tasmania, as we visited a few tourist attractions and finished up the day by lunchtime. Before heading out, we met up with a few of our Hutchins buddies who were accompanying us for the day. We grabbed our lunch bags filled with various food items such as cookies and sandwiches and headed to our first stop, the Richmond maze. It was a new experience for most of us as we had never been in a maze before, and it was a quick and confusing walk through. After the maze, we headed up to the Richmond model village, where there was a 1:16 scaled model village of Tasmania in the 1820s. It was amazing as the village was extremely detailed, with blueprints of old houses being taken from the government archives to replicate it. It was eye-opening to see the difference in development that 200 or so years brought to the town of Hobart, with much of the land being covered in water, only being reclaimed later. After the model village, we had a brief walk around an Old Style Lolly Shop where many treats were offered to us. After the lolly shop, we headed to our main attraction of the day, the Bonorong Wildlife Centre. We had a pleasant time in the wildlife centre, being able to snap a few pictures of Tasmanias iconic wildlife, like the Tasmanian Devil and the kangaroos. The group had a great time today, getting introduced to the attractions in Tasmania as well as interacting with the students from Hutchins, and we cant wait for the next few days to come.
