Of all the Supreme Courts justices, none comes close to matching Antonin Scalia for intellectual dexterity and utter lack of principle. He voted to strike down Congress’ s corporate spending ban in federal elections and Congress’s voting rights protections, and repeatedly argues that Congress is not entitled to any deference. But today he takes issue with the Courts DOMA decision, calling it an assertion of judicial supremacy over the people’s Representatives in Congress and the Executive,” adding that the framers of the Constitution created a judicial branch with limited power in order to “guard their right to self-rule against the black-robed supremacy that today’s majority finds so attractive.” Why, one wonders, does Scalia even attempt to cloak his political views in the garb of judicial opinion?See More
