Of all the views on the Fulani invasion, the most plausible to me - TopicsExpress

Of all the views on the Fulani invasion, the most plausible to me is the one I read from a post yesterday (I apologize for my inability to recall the author). To him, the marauders sacking Benue communities are Fulanis from countries devastated by wars & severe drought such as Mali, CAR, Sudan, Chad & Libya. These nomadic barbarians are typically well armed (having emerged from war zones), without cattle (having lost everything to wars & drought) & therefore extremely hungry & aggressive. They have moved into the Benue valley to find survival for their generation. With this reinforcement, the jihad minded Fulanis saw the opportunity to unleash their venomous visitors unto the unsuspecting Middle belt people to help them achieve what they failed to do under Uthman dan Fodio.i.e islamize Nigeria. In this agenda, they have the tacit support of their people in the top command of the military. Our government is as usual, too partisan, too greedy, too clueless & docile to respond to this threat to national security. It is now up to us to act in self defence. In doing this, we must solicit the help of our neighbours from the south & make them understand that, after us, its them. In the long run, well work towards reorganizing our rural communities from the typically dispersed pattern to more concentrated zones to reduce our vulnerability to attacks.
