Of all those born in Nigeria and who have grown to become leaders of this nation, there is no one who has been as lucky as Obasanjo. He never planned for a coup before he became the head of state and in 1979, he became the first military ruler to hand over to an elected civilian. He was in prison when he has was brought out to become the elected President of Nigeria in 1999, a position that no one has ever achieved in Nigeria to lead the nation, the second time. Unfortunately, with the direction that he is going now, he is likely to become less than the least Nigerian ever to be born. He is who was to come to make the way of civil leadership straight and sustainable but turning against what he worked so hard for is most unfortunate. Like a political John the Baptist figure, he is abandoning his calling to protect and promote civil leadership and will end up ruining himself and bringing civil leadership to disrespect in Nigeria. He needs to be most careful in his thoughts, words and actions in this last phase (2015 - 2019) of civil leadership in Nigeria. For all the military ruled until Obasanjo and if Nigerians are willing to accept, he is the one who was called to create a bridge between military rule and civil leadership.
