Of course its quite wrong that old peoples lives should be in danger because they cant afford to heat their homes during the winter. But is it really so evil to suggest that people could, in general, heat fewer rooms, or wear more clothes indoors to conserve energy? Living in a draughty country cottage, heated by an oil-fired boiler, we only turn on the heating when its absolutely essential and take it for granted that we need to wrap up warm in the meantime. Its much healthier that way and much greener, too.
