Of course this is classic Kevin Rudd. Running around promising all kinds of things without having done any real research. I agree in principle with a special zone for Northern Australia. However the aim should be to reduce the huge burden that Big Government places on all productive people who live and work in this wonderful part of Australia, not just lower taxes. We need a free-labour market, a free-energy market, a huge reduction in bureaucratic nonsense and red-tape and far less regulation of all business if we are to forge ahead and truly create a wealth-producing zone in Northern Australia. But currently it is Big Government federally, and sad to say, also here in the NT that is holding us back. To be fair to Giles:he did inherit a typical Labor financial and administrative catastrophe. But unfortunately, at least so far, has shown little sign of beginning the massive repair and restructuring that is so crucially and urgently required.
