Of myself I am nothing, the Father doeth the works. Humility, as - TopicsExpress

Of myself I am nothing, the Father doeth the works. Humility, as a word and as an ideal, has a very bad time of it in our world. Not only is the idea misunderstood; the word itself is often intensely disliked. Many people havent even a nodding acquaintance with humility as a way of life. Much of the everyday talk we hear, and a great deal of what we read, highlights mans pride in his own achievements. We could actually have earnest religious beliefs which remained barren because we were still trying to play God ourselves. As long as we placed self-reliance first, a genuine reliance upon God was out of the question. That basic ingredient of all humility, a desire to seek and do Gods will, was missing. Without it, we cannot live to much useful purpose, or, in adversity, be able to summon the faith that can meet any emergency.
