Of tribes, Zezuru, Ndebele, Karanga and Korekore. I came across a wonderful hilarious tribal war on one of these political fb groups. I laugh at tribalism because to me, it does not make sense at all. I mean, there is no point in celebrating the myth that the Karangas are more learned or educated when you as a Karanga, have a chain of Us at O Level. Or the myth that such tribe has more beautiful women when it also has women who look like hippos too! Your tribe does not define you at all. Look how you are so different from your own siblings! Or maybe your same tribe neighbours! But thats not the whole story though. Someone was saying all those with animal totem surnames are not original Ndebeles! Meaning the Ncubes, Nyathis, Ndlovus, Sibandas and Nkomos (!) are not true Ndebeles. So where does that take us to? The Ndebele tribe is soon stripped of its most eminent sons, Dr Joshua Nkomo, Welshman Ncube, the Ndlovu soccers stars we knew to be proudly Tonga, Prof Jonathan Moyo, SK Moyo , John Nkomo, Masotsha Ndlovu ummmm the list is exhausting enough. So who is true Ndebele? The Khumalos, Ndebeles, Masuku, Mabena and a few others. When will tribalism stop? I mean we have done enough stupid things like voting along tribal lines and killing innocent men, women and children and we havent learnt its stupid and backward, even Satanic? So one of the offended also aimed to shoot down the fact that Ndebeles are from South Africa? He said Shonas were the first to settle in SAs Limpopo province building those beautiful structures known as Mupungubwe. Nice stuff! And he says the original Ndebeles came from the Congo region to settle in SA. The original Shonas came from Rwanda and Tanzania (tanganyika sounds like Shona of course). How stupid we all are. Try saying people in Shona or Ndebele. Say two or three in the same languages. Umfazi/ mukadzi umntwana/mwana. Doesnt this suggest we came from the same family of languages? And the colonialists soon mastered the divide and rule tactic. After dividing us on Shona/Ndebele terms, next they divided us on dialect terms. You are Karanga, you are Zezuru, you Korekore. We further divided ourselvels on totem lines. You are Nyati, you are Nyandoro, you moyo, you Shumba! And what a divided nation we became. Heard someone saying the next President should be a Moyo because we are the Royal family! Kekekekeke how stupid. Hanzi we the Karangas should rule now, its our time. Hanzi Joyce muZezuru hatichada maZezuru! For your own info, she is Korekore and there is nowhere in our constitution that talks about what tribe and totem a President should be. Go back to your caves you cavemen! The world has moved on and Europe is embracing a single currency. We should be speaking of knocking down the borders put up by the imperialists not fighting a lost Moyo cause. We are one, simunye maZimbabwe amahle!
