Off the coast of Washington State ten years ago, oyster larvae began dying dramatically. What was the reason? Ocean acidification, the slow addition of carbon dioxide to the ocean, that is making the water more acidic at the fastest rate in 50 million years. That doesnt give sea life much time to adapt, and things will look much different underwater.
